Instilling Empathy through Awareness
We at TWS believe that one of the most important ways to change society’s behaviour towards animals is by educating our youth. This is why TWS works with educational establishments to increase awareness regarding animal rights and welfare in Pakistan. We conduct sessions and awareness drives in various educational institutes to spread information regarding animal rights and to make the students aware of the animal abuse that takes place on our streets.
It is through education; we hope to raise awareness of the current plight of street animals in Pakistan and the challenges that they face on a daily basis. Helping them acknowledge the right to exist of these beings and viewing them from a lens of love. On these visits, we are accompanied by TWS rescues who show by example how gentle they truly are. They have seen the worst at the hands of humans only to survive and to learn to trust and love all over again.
Schools and universities we’ve visited
These visits allow us to help children overcome certain fears and fight stigmas attached to street animals about “impurity” and “diseases”. We hope that our future generations will learn to live alongside street animals, and instead of shunning them away, they will be able to open their hearts to them.
