With TNVR being central to our work Valencia Compassion Project is one that we eagerly set up. Lahore’s first TNVR Project for Street Dogs in collaboration with PECHS Valancia Housing Society. The core aim of the project was instilling more empathy for those with whom we share our society.
his project gave us the opportunity to work with Valencia Housing Society to help curb the street dog population by spaying and neutering the resident dogs. For a housing association to not proceed with dog culling but to actually work with us is most encouraging. However, just entering an agreement with management is not enough.
We understood that for such a new concept to be successfully implemented we would need to run awareness projects in order to change the mindset of the ordinary person. With the majority of residents not aware of what TNVR is and its benefits, we worked hard to spread the message that these poor creatures are not something to be despised and scared of and to address the misconception that all strays are rabid. The project was kicked off in November 2021 and we have successfully spayed and neutered approximately 100 dogs till date.
